Air Conditioning Hose Lines – Advanced HVAC Hose Production Systems
Colmec’s extrusion lines for Air Conditioning (A/C) Hose Lines are specifically designed to produce multi-layer barrier hoses that meet the demanding performance and environmental requirements of modern refrigerant systems. These hoses are used in vehicle climate control and stationary HVAC systems.
Extrusion Line Types & Hose Structures
1. Verner-Type Hose Extrusion Line
- Designed for low refrigerant permeation and high thermal resistance
- Multi-layer construction:
- Inner layer: Polyamide (PA) to act as a gas barrier minimizing refrigerant loss (e.g., R134a, R1234yf)
- Intermediate layer: Rubber coating (typically EPDM or CR)
- Textile reinforcement: Knitted or braided synthetic fiber (e.g., polyester, aramid)
- Outer layer: Rubber coating for environmental and mechanical protection
- Suitable for automotive A/C hoses and high-efficiency HVAC applications
2. Barrier Tube Extrusion Line
- Alternate multilayer configuration optimized for pressure and flexibility
- Multi-layer construction:
- Inner layer: Rubber (for flexibility and chemical compatibility)
- Second layer: Co-extruded Polyamide (PA) for low refrigerant permeability
- Third layer: Rubber adhesion layer
- Reinforcement: Textile braiding or knitting for strength
- Outer rubber coating: Protects against UV, ozone, abrasion, and chemicals
- Designed for air conditioning systems in:
- Cars and trucks
- Buses and coaches
- Commercial and industrial HVAC systems
Technical Specifications
- Textile Reinforcement:
- High strength knitted or braided reinforcement
- Materials: Polyester, nylon, or aramid for burst pressure resistance and flexibility
- Internal Diameter Range:
- From 5/16″ (approx. 7.9 mm) up to 1 1/4″ (approx. 31.8 mm)
- Covers light vehicles to heavy-duty industrial HVAC systems
- Operating Pressure:
- Up to 35 bar (approx. 500 psi)
- Suitable for most modern refrigerant systems (R134a, R1234yf, R744/CO₂ systems with design variation)
- Low Permeation:
- Inner polyamide barrier significantly reduces refrigerant gas loss
- Helps comply with environmental regulations (EU, EPA, etc.)
